May Newsletter

It has been a vibrant spring season of activity for Lotus Dharma Garden!

During May, the Elk residents collaborated in an outpouring of effort and love to bring the LDG website to final fruition. Additionally, Rinpoche and the translation team have been finalizing new polished translations of Trö Chung and Tröma Ngöndro, two of our central practice texts.

Working alongside newly born white-flecked deer fawns, residents have also been tending the land, mowing the expansive meadows, weed whacking, and cleaning up fallen branches. Not shying away from getting their hands dirty, they also planted a summer vegetable garden and have been tending all of the gardens, which are currently filled with a sea of gorgeous spring blossoms.

Meanwhile in Rinpoche’s retreat center in Cerro Gordo, Mexico, the few residents have been doing the work of many, building raised beds for vegetables from recycled materials of the land and creating new sangha gathering spaces. They have continued to work on the immaculate Naga pond, carve mani stones for the mani wall, and make many other land improvements. They have also been hosting monthly sangha retreats, maintaining the inspiring spirit of practice amplified by Rinpoche’s last visit.

Amazing transformations have also occurred in Rinpoche’s center in Dollu, Nepal, where the base of a new stupa was completed on the upper land next to the Newari-style temple. A beautiful stone patio has been laid as the ground for the outdoor gompa, and the Naga pond has been polished and repainted, glistening as water offerings pour forth.

We rejoice in the network of connections that makes all of this activity possible!
