Loppön Jigme Thutop Namgyal Rinpoche is a deeply respected contemporary master in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and a holder of the complete Dudjom Tersar and Longchen Nyingtik lineages. As His Holiness Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche’s heart-son, Rinpoche’s life and activity are entirely rooted in the sacred instruction given to him by his teacher: “Strive for the benefit of all beings!”
With this sole motivation, Rinpoche established Lotus Dharma Garden centers in Northern California, Mexico and Nepal. His vision was to create places where both new and established practitioners can receive the profound teachings of Vajrayana and engage in practice away from the distractions of ordinary life. These three centers, located in remote and blessed natural environments, offer the rare opportunity for both group and individual practice under Rinpoche’s direct guidance.
What makes these centers truly unique is that with their intimate, family-style atmosphere, students are also so fortunate to have close, personal access to Rinpoche, receiving guidance and support from him through a rare blend of accessibility, boundless wisdom and compassion. Each center is cared for by a small resident sangha of serious practitioners who live on the land year-round. Their daily karma yoga is itself a practice and an expression of devotion as they maintain and improve the land and facilities, organize retreats, and support Rinpoche’s translation and publication of sacred texts.
These retreat lands are the living expression of Rinpoche’s unwavering devotion and his aspiration to benefit all sentient beings and offer a refuge for sincere practice.
